Rhode Island Becomes Seventh US State To License Online Casinos

Mobile Casino App Icon Last month, Rhode Island became the seventh US state to offer state-licensed online casino games.

On March 1st, 2024, Bally’s Casino in Lincoln started simulcasting slots and table games to online players within the state. In what is now called a soft launch, Rhode Island became the seventh state to license and regulate online casino-style games.

Senate President Dominick Ruggerio, who sponsored the bill that went into effect, stated that iGaming will ensure that Rhode Island remains at the forefront of the competitive gaming industry.

According to the Rhode Island Current, Rhode Island is predicted to receive an extra $21.4 million in iGaming revenue in the first year. IGaming revenue will grow to $38.5 million in the first five years.

Only players over the age of 21 are allowed to gamble online in Rhode Island. According to state law, bettors must also be physically located in Rhode Island when they place bets.

What US State Offer Online Casinos?

Only seven states offer online casino services: Rhode Island, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, and Michigan. However, legal online casinos outside the United States are offered to all 50 states from reputable sources.

Since US gambling laws do not address online casinos, offshore sites can operate legally in states that haven’t passed specific rules concerning the matter. To our knowledge, Washington is the only state that has outlawed online casino gambling, but it does not prosecute.

Will Online Casino Gambling Expand In The USA Like Sports Betting?

So far, that has not been the case, as sports betting has exploded in the post-PASPA era while online casinos have not. It is important to note that only a few states have authorized online sports betting.

Online casino expansion in the United States will eventually happen, but when is a good question? For now, bettors can trust time-tested and accurate mobile casino sites licensed by trusted gaming regulators.
