The Florida Supreme Court has rejected a request without explanation to halt online sports betting brought forth by two pari-mutual companies.
The West Flagler Associates and Bonita-Fort Myers Corp asked the state’s Supreme Court to suspend the provisions set for online sports betting in Florida immediately. A 2021 gaming compact between the state of Florida and the Seminole Tribe authorized online sports betting to Florida residents and also added craps and roulette to their domestic casino locations.
Domestic online sports betting in Florida launched in late 2023 when the Seminole Tribe relaunched their online sports betting app. The Seminole Tribe announced they would allow in-person sports gambling on Nov. 1st and online bets on Nov. 7th.
In 2021, the Seminole Tribe first launched its online sports wagering app but was stalled due to a federal lawsuit filed by the same pari-mutual companies. Last month, the Federal Supreme Court refused to block the deal mentioned in the lawsuit by the two companies.
What Online Casino Options Are Available In Florida?
The state of Florida does not offer online casino gambling from domestic casinos; therefore, residents of the Sunshine State must utilize other FL online gambling options from outside of the state.
Typical online casinos offer the same games found at tribal casino locations with lower buy-ins and more gambling options. As a bonus, legal USA online casinos offer non-traditional banking options alongside their Visa and MasterCard options. Non-typical banking options often include Bitcoin and various forms of altcoins, depending on which site you choose to play.
When will Florida allow online casino gambling from state-licensed casinos?
Online casino gambling expansion has been slow compared to online sports betting, but several states have recently passed new legislation to allow online casino options to their residents. Florida, however, is different from those states, and there is no time scale for when a domestic online casino bill could hit the voter referendum.
For now, the only legal betting online options for casino gambling in Florida come from offshore sites regulated by trusted gaming commissions.
