Americas Card Room Review
As part of the famed Winning Poker Network, which includes sister poker sites Black Chip Poker, YaPoker and True Poker, America's Card Room (ACR) has been around since 2001 offering Americans a safe place to play. Unlike many big-name poker sites that were in operation at the time, ACR managed to avoid the Bush Blitz of 2006 due to the fact that they weren't operated out of the United States in the first place. Prior to the UIGEA, this meant that ACR wasn't as popular as some others like PokerStars, PokerRoom, etc; but after the dust settled from Bush's nuclear (or nuke-lee-or) bomb, ACR was still standing tall and started to build a larger following and more respect. With so much competition online, ACR needs to cater well to its base or else they risk losing it. This is where the site has really managed to prove its worth, in customer relations. It's a brand that's well respected among the poker community.
ACR bounces around, but they have been in the #1 spot of all US-facing sites many times, and for many years, and they do so by offering an inclusive, lucrative, player-friendly poker environment. They make sure to deliver very fast payouts, and they have very few snags in their system. They also offer some unique and new features, like Bitcoin and site-specific debit cards for instant deposits and withdrawals. Top that off with great software, quality support, and tons of traffic in their poker games, and it's no wonder that ACR earns that legitimate label.

Licensing Info: Is ACR Legal for US Players?
If any reader remembers the ACR of a few years ago, you may have noticed some big changes. Their in-house software received a big upgrade, and they started offering more games. And as more payment methods became available, the traffic really picked up, which means the quality of the play has really picked up. They have also changed their licensing a few times and are now licensed by the government gambling authority of Cyprus, which is offshore of America and the reason why ACR is an online poker room that is legally open to Americans. The federal government of the USA has absolutely no say over what ACR does and who the site allows. And since it's legal in the USA for a person to gamble where gambling is legal, Americans are welcomed to join up with the site. Some of the restricted countries include some Middle Eastern nations like Iraq and Iran, and the site also keeps a few American states from gambling there: Louisiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Washington State, New Jersey, Delaware and Nevada.
If you're in Nevada, New Jersey or Delaware, the reason this site doesn't welcome you is that your state laws actually allow you to gamble in-state, so they don't want you gambling outside of their jurisdiction. There is a very slight chance that you might get through, and in which case you wouldn't be punished by law, but you will more than likely have to play via a poker room that's opened in your state. You can check out our guide to find out which US States offer legal gambling for more info for your particular state.

Current Bonuses And Promotions
One positive benefit of ACR that many of its members report is that they have a wide range of bonuses and promotions that make playing there all the more lucrative. Like most poker sites, ACR starts out with their welcome bonus. This bonus gives new players making a first-time deposit a 100% deposit match of up to $1,000. So, if you decided to you wanted to be a high-roller and deposit a grand, the site would match you. However, this is not an instant process. You will have to play X number of hands in real-money games, and the site will release this money in increments. They can't have you just withdrawing the $1,000 instantly and then leaving, so there are some stipulations.
Make sure you check out the site itself for a full and accurate list of additional promotions. The site offers up promos like the Sunday Special, the Online Super Series, and the Sit & Crush promotion, but these may change around before you end up getting to the site. ACR offers multiple promotions, but they do frequently change them around.
Game Selection And Betting Limits
When it comes to the types of different games you can play at ACR, the poker room does a great job of providing some serious variety. For instance, you can find all your favorite popular games, like Texas Hold'em and 5 and 7-stud and Omaha, but you also get hi-lo versions of these games, plus 32 card draw and a couple other great, entertaining games. When it comes to the types of game structures in which you can participate, ACR offers sit 'n go tournaments, from $5 up over $100, and ring games from a few cents up into the hundreds, knock-out games, which are like head-to-head battles, and a ton of freerolls and satellites where you can earn entry into real tournaments. Many of these tournaments are big-time and have professional sponsors like the Latin Poker Series and Punta Cana Poker. Perhaps the most appealing aspect of these tournaments is that you can buy in for a couple of bucks, and sometimes even for free, and win huge prizes if you come out on top. Low-risk, extremely high reward; you can't ask for more than that.
Banking Methods
ACR has taken big strides in its banking methods to appeal to more people, particularly Americans. Not only can you use Visa, Western Union, and eChecks, but you can also apply for the ACR Debit card and put money on it for instant deposits and withdrawals. More than that, however, ACR has become a Bitcoin poker room, which means you can simply enter your Bitcoin address and handle the banking. This gives you a much more reliable, and a much quicker way to bank, plus it appeals to a lot more people who are starting to use Bitcoins while getting away from other antiquated methods. Perhaps ACR could stand to use a few more CC sources, and having PayPal would also be a big plus. But as it stands right now, the site does quite well on its banking methods and offers some convenient options for Americans and others.
Summary And Opinion
We take great strides to ensure that our reviews are impartial and use only the latest, most accurate information we can glean. ACR is open for Americans, which is always a plus. They also have software that seamlessly transitions depending on which type of Internet device you're using.
However, their customer support is rather lackluster. And when it comes to gaming traffic, the site leaves a lot to be desired with only a couple thousand players during peak hours. There are also many complaints about players being paid rather slowly.
At the end of the day, we feel like there are much better choices out there available for players such as Bovada Poker or Ignition Poker.
